@ Tungsten, It would be good for area rugs but not wall to wall. For wall to wall Steam cleaning is good if you have a powerful machine that will suck up most of the water you put in.

Today I removed the bathmat from the bathtub in the home of my boyfriend. It had a lot of pinkish looking & black mold on it. It was also on the sides of the tub, on the shower curtain & underneath the mat, which was also slimy. I removed it & laundered it but the stains are still there, so the mold may be embedded, I am not sure. When I am visiting here I feel unwell, have light-headedness, fatigue & itchy skin. I do not have these symptoms as bad @ my residence. What type of mold may this be & how toxic is it? I had not really considered this as re. to my symptoms until today, but it makes sense. I would appreciate any insight on this & advice on what can be done. Also, I am thinking the bathmat could be part of the problem to, as it may be promoting the mold growth–it is a soft foam-type of material. Thank you. –Kat

Just remember to keep the infected area contained. When using fans, you don’t want to spread the mold spores around the other uncontaminated areas of your house.
